Silverstoolers Building Resilience for Good Data Science – Session C2
21 November 2024
As part of the Silverstoolers Student-Led Data Science & AI Program, Session C2 focused on one of the most vital — yet often overlooked — aspects of success in tech and analytics: resilience.
The session was co-facilitated by two powerful voices in global education and leadership:
Dr. Lyn Ametewee, PhD MA LLM MBA, Principal & CEO Founder of Silverstool and President of the Silverstoolers Student-Led Data Science & AI Program,
and
James Addison, Ghana’s first qualified Emotional Intelligence Master Coach, CEO of Addison International Center for Emotional Intelligence, and Strategic Partner of Silverstool.
Together, they led an engaging and practical discussion on what it truly means to “build resilience” as a young data scientist. Far from abstract theory, the session blended emotional intelligence principles with concrete tools and techniques students could apply immediately — in school, during coding challenges, and as future professionals navigating global opportunities.
Participants from The Noble College@GlobalTell (Nigeria), Hilltop Schools (Liberia), and the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (Ghana) shared personal insights — including moments of frustration and a sense of failure when encountering errors in coding during the program.
“This program is the best thing that happened to me.”
— Enoch Olowookere, Silverstooler, 10th Grade, The Noble College@GlobalTell (Nigeria)
The session also introduced a simple framework for personal resilience — one students can revisit during exams, team projects, or future career transitions.
More than just a talk, this was a mindset masterclass — equipping students not just with knowledge, but with inner tools to sustain long-term growth in the data-driven world.
